As Family Support Workers we can help in a number of ways. Primarily our role is to provide help to families; both children and parents, with difficulties they may be experiencing, whether in the home or at school. By addressing issues and providing support it is hoped that we can work together to prevent the family situation from deteriorating or problems becoming more serious.

We can offer a one to one service to work with your child either at school or within the safe and secure environment of Norfolk house.

We can also offer you help specifically with regard to your parenting; this might be on a one to one basis within your home, or if appropiate you may be invited to attend a parenting course.

A one to one session with a child or parent will normally take place once a week, initially for a period of 6 weeks. Each session is expected to last for approximately 1 hour. Parenting courses can last up to 14 weeks with sessions lasting approximately 2 hours. When our period of involvement comes to an end we will review with you whether you need further support.

Should your needs or those of your child be very specific and something we feel unable to help with, we will try to assist you in accessing more appropiate support from elsewhere.

We work to these service standards.
